This position is a Subsistence Council Coordinator, GS- 0301-12 working in Anchorage, Alaska for the R7-Assistant Regional Director-Subsistence Mgmt.
This position is eligible for a 2.01% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), in addition to the salary indicated above.

Duties
As a Subsistence Council Coordinator your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage one to three councils by accomplishing all administrative tasks and training needed for the councils.
Ensure council compliance with the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act Title VIII, the Federal Advisory Committee Act, and other pertinent laws, and with Department and Program policies and processes pertinent to the councils' functions and purpose.
Serve as the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) designated Federal officer for the council.
Serve as the primary contact between the regional advisory council, other entities within the Federal Subsistence Management Program, State and tribal government agencies, private resource organizations, and the general public on issues related to subsistence.
Ensure that the regional advisory council adequately meets the needs of regional rural residents and the Program, and that the council's proposals and recommendations are given appropriate consideration by the Program staff including Office of Subsistence Management (OSM) staff, the Interagency Staff Committee, and the Federal Subsistence Board.
Ensure that considerations such as the region's traditional practices and customs regarding harvest and use of subsistence resources, and the region's knowledge of fish and wildlife populations are used appropriately in regulation development and Program plans.
Facilitate two or more public council meetings per year; collect data needed for development of annual subsistence hunting and fishing regulatory proposals, management plans, and annual reports; and otherwise advise the Federal Subsistence Board.

Qualifications
Only experience and education obtained by 09/21/2023 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service which equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that typically is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of Specialized Experience include: (a) conducted public meeting planning, developed logistics, and oversaw the execution of the plans; (b) wrote reports, regulatory documents, letters, etc. to Federal, State, and Tribal agencies; (c) compiled meeting materials and documentation; (d) collected and analyzed data to develop recommendations or regulatory proposals for changes to fish and wildlife management policies or regulations; (e) conducted implementation of applicable Federal, State, and/or local laws, regulations, and policies; (f) collected and complied biological, sociological, and traditional ecological knowledge data from the rural residents and presented this data to the decision makers to assist with regulatory decisions; (g) conducted various public outreach efforts and maintained ongoing personal contacts with various stakeholders with interest in fish and wildlife resources; (h) developed presentations on regulatory topics and presented at agency staff meetings and/or public meetings; (i) kept meeting minutes and other meeting documentation for large groups with diverse participants; and (j) participated and presented at Federal, State, or Tribal agencies and resource user organizations fish and wildlife meetings on public land use or natural resource management issues, policies, or regulations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
