About the Position: This position is located within the Market Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Dentistry Department of Hospital Dentistry Office of the Chief in Bethesda, Maryland.
Parking at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is limited, the use of commuting alternatives is recommended.

Duties
Identify problems with health care processes and recommend alternatives to improve processes, identifying and reporting any quality improvement issues.
Monitor the Military Healthcare System (MHS) for trends, analysis, and comparisons, gather and interpret data, making recommendations to leadership on findings that may affect productivity, access and quality of service.
Monitor and assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
Monitor and assist access to care (ATC) databases to ensure WRNMMC is compliant in expected appointment volumes and time frames.
Coordinate and consult with leadership on program administrative matters.
Maintain manpower database information for the Department including numbers of direct and indirect personnel, organizational locations, and availability for accomplishment of programmed workload.
Supervise the daily administrative functioning and monitor employee performance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position may be subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees may be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing various healthcare systems and databases for gathering and interpreting data; performing analysis to support clinical practice initiatives; identifying problems with health care processes and recommend improvements; and monitoring annual budgets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
