You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) in the Requirements Branch, Facilities Management Division, of Public Works Department Great Lakes, of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will determine strategy for the testing of electrical systems. You will perform inspections of electrical controls and supply systems to determine the type of maintenance required. You will assess manual and automated calibration procedures to provide direction to managers and supervisors You will determine quality assurance or support documentation necessary to execute the job You will analyze performance measures to provide policy or process change recommendations You will compose technical engineering instruction and procedures for mechanical, electrical, or structural maintenance, alterations, or repairs

Requirements

  • Incumbent may be assigned to any site or workstation within the NAVFAC MIDLANT area as a condition of employment.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes as needed.
  • This position is eligible for part time telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

GS-10: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Prepares technical contract documents (i.e. drawings, specifications, cost estimates); 2) Visits work sites to collect data pertaining to the scope of work, determine the amount and type of labor and material required; 3) Maintain a complete material and engineering data file to include contract and material procurement information, frequently used federal specifications, price index of materials and available vendors, contractors, and manufacturers; 4) Maintains information that will be obtained from the customer activity, contract administrator, contract specialist, and contract surveillance representative; 5) Prepares detailed material and labor cost estimates using estimating handbooks, estimating software and/or engineering performance standards; and 6) Ability to independently read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical manuals. GS- 09: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Prepares technical contract documents (i.e. drawings, specifications, cost estimates); 2) Visits work sites to collect data pertaining to the scope of work, determine the amount and type of labor and material required; 3) Maintain a complete material and engineering data file to include contract and material procurement information, frequently used federal specifications, price index of materials and available vendors, contractors, and manufacturers; 4) Maintains information that will be obtained from the customer activity, contract administrator, contract specialist, and contract surveillance representative.
