You will serve as a SUPERVISORY DATA MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (Code 2300), under the Assistant Nuclear Engineering and Planning Manager (Code 2301), in the Nuclear Process and Program Support Branch (Code 2301.4), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will apply principles of data and records management to the acquisition, organization, maintenance, control and distribution of required technical and administrative data. You will utilize experienced subject-matter knowledge for long range planning to keep the library's systems and resources reponsive to continuing change You will take action to assure the proper care, custody, maintenance and use of property and maintenance of appropriate records.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience maintaining classified or unclassified libraries of documents, using both manual and automated management systems. Experience utilizing records management systems, including acquisition and retrieval, indexing, circulation, distribution, and proper disposal. Experience interpret, manipulate and improve use of automated data systems including the Technical Information Management System (TIMS) database. Experience understanding shipyard priorities and nuclear programs in order to meet nuclear data management requirements, respond to priorities, and proactively suggest process improvements. Experience applying methods and policies for handling and destruction of classified material. Experience interpreting, analyzing, and understanding engineering documents (i.e., engineering drawings, specifications, instructions, procedures, nuclear terminology, technical documents, technical manuals, etc.).
