Duties
You will organize, coordinate, and verify all logistical requirements in support of Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies (TSC) events.
You will handle a wide variety of administrative and executive support related tasks for the SED.
You will technically and administratively supervise the Event Planning team consisting of two other positions.
You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
You will evaluate work performance of subordinates.
You will communicate performance expectations, foster and reward excellent performance, adhere to merit system principles, and provide effective mentorship/employee development.
You will plan and coordinate major events (meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia, and ceremonies).
You will manage and coordinate a variety of services essential to the direction and operation of 8+ events per year.
You will provide guidance to other event planners, and other TSC staff when assigned, about the logistical aspects of engagement and outreach events.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing event plans and coordinating services for official and social functions and events for an organization.
