You will serve as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist in the Office of Material Readiness of LCS SQUADRON 1, SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will be delegated full authority of the Maintenance Officer in the management, supervision and oversight of personnel civilian and military responsible for availability planning, funding processes and class modernization. You will serve as the civilian deputy COMLCSRON ONE Maintenance Officer, participating fully in the management of the organization and providing continuity in the oversight of the maintenance/ modernization of the LCS ship class. You will assist in the indoctrination and training of new Maintenance Officers and maintenance teams by providing guidance on policies and procedures. You will maintain liaison with Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Shipyards, SUPSHIPS, support contractors, the Fleet Commander, etc, in matters pertaining to planned major industrial work for the planning, execution and completion of all work items. You will review reports, on-going studies and projects in support of improving planned maintenance performance. You will maintain continuing review of budgetary and time constraints in the planning and execution phases of the industrial availabilities; Identifying shortfalls and their impact; Develop recommendations and rationale.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing the planning and logistical support (e.g. manpower, training, funding) for life-cycle maintenance, modernization, and repair of ships to meet cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness of project objectives.
