About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Coordinate, schedule, staff, and maintain status on required actions to include taskings, current operations, staffing actions, short range plans, event de-confliction.
Develop and publish installation-level messages, warnings, and/or taskings for emergencies, non-emergencies and/or day-to-day current operations.
Represent Directorate at coordination meetings, in-progress reviews, and planning meetings for installation level event scheduling.
Write and edit reports, briefings, and other informational material to document installation tasking, scheduling, and utilization of resources.
Develop implementing instructions and directives to accomplish both short- and long-term actions.
Conduct internal planning and oversee support commitments for the execution of installation level ceremonial events to include scheduling of garrison facilities or areas, fields, locations, and specific support.
Responsible for assisting the Resource Manager with General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) and financial accountability.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Driver License.
- As a DPW Operations Specialist responsible to acquire and maintain Emergency Operations Center (EOC) credentials.
- Job may require shift work if the Emergency Operations Center is activated in support of an all-hazard actual event.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) or Business Travel is up to 10% to attend resident emergency management courses, conferences, and other associated training.
- Job requires working up to 12 hours, on weekdays and weekends in support of home football games, major installation concerts, WestPoint Graduation, and other major events.
- Job requires some after duty hour support to assist with the Ready West Point emergency preparedness program.
- Job requires monitoring tables with community information and answering questions about emergency preparedness.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning, organizing and/or prioritizing work assignments; 2) Developing, writing, editing and/or publishing reports, briefings and/or operational orders; 3) Utilizing automated software/databases to prepare reports, spreadsheets, charts, and/or graphs; and 4) Resolving problems associated with current operations execution, operational taskings, calendars/scheduling, and/or administrative duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Organizational Management or in a related field. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
