You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT in the Joint Base Commander Officer (JBC) of NAVAL STATION. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 9.28% will be added to the stated salary.

Duties

You will coordinate program management administrative support activities for an organization (e.g., planning, personnel management, resource management, administration, facilities, logistics, contracting). You will arrange itineraries or agenda recommendations for distinguished visitors. You will evaluate resolutions to program problems to ensure effectiveness. You will advise others on the automated information support systems required for the collection, analysis, and use of data. You will review alternative budget and program actions to determine approaches to financing operations and programs.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinating the general office and administrative services by implementing current administrative practices as well as developing and recommending new or revised policies or procedures; 2) Interpreting, reviewing, preparing, and responding to military and general correspondence applying proper format, punctuation, and procedure; 3) Communicating in person, over the phone, and through official correspondence with all levels of personnel such as flag rank officers, member of the Secretariat of the Navy, DoD and U.S. Senators and Representatives; 4) Using computer software and databases such as email, calendar programs, Command Financial Management System (CFMS) to draft correspondence, input data, and track expenditure of funds; and 5) Applying knowledge of travel arrangements in order to plan and coordinate visits with distinguished personnel using a travel program such as Defense Travel (DTS). This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
