About the position: This is a Regular Full-Time position located at the Pershing Child Development Center. This position is guaranteed 35 hours weekly. The position may require the incumbent to transport children in a government vehicle therefore a valid state driver's license must be obtained and maintained; a good driving record may be required. Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs Employee Child Care Discount applicable to this position (see Additional Information).

Requirements

  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: A bachelor of science/art degree that included a major study in child or youth development/education or a related field (i.e., youth recreation, elementary/early childhood education, physical education (K-6), music education (K-6), art education (K-6), human or family services/development, psychology, social work, guidance and counseling, home economics); QI, a combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in child or youth development/education or a related field (as described on the preceding page), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-ycar course of study described above. In addition, candidate must possess the following: Extensive knowledge of the Military Child Care Act, DoD and Air Force policies, United States Department of Agriculture food program, accreditation requirements of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Experience working with regulatory, personnel, funding and budgeting proponents, experience in training adults and working effectively with command staff, professional staff and parents, ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions, comprehensive oral communication and analytical writing skills. Ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences; demonstrated ability in standard office software such as word processing, graphics presentations, spreadsheets, and email. All required background checks in accordance with AF policy and the Crime Control Act must be successfully completed, maintained, including Child care Tier 1, pre-employment physical, and food handler's certification. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
