You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SEMPER FIT SPECIALIST in the Semper Fit Division, Marine Corps Community Services Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will assist and advise the Semper Fit Director in the day to day operation and administration of the division by coordinating the efforts of approximately 100 employees through branch and support managers. You will manage personnel assigned, including effective employee utilization and position management, department organization, structure and staffing allocation and resolution of grievances and complaints referred from subordinate supervisors. You will ensure the responsible use of manpower and facilities and establishment of sound business procedures, hours of operation, services, prices, fees, purchases and capital improvements. You will carry out EEO policies and procedures informing subordinates of total support thereof. You will develop and justify the MCCS Semper Fit Division appropriated and non-appropriated budgets in excess of $1.9 million and identifies necessary changes. You will oversee the following programs; Health Promotion and Nutrition, Fitness, Aquatics, Parks, Single Marine Program, Enlisted Recreation Center, Theater, Auto Skills, Party Adventure Recreation Center, Golf Course, and Tickets and Tours Office.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid card required. If not current, must be completed within six (6) weeks of employment.
  • You will be required to maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Leading effective, comprehensive and diversified athletic, fitness, recreational, and social programs to include a wide range of activities designed to enhance the morale and welfare of a large and diverse population including children and retired personnel.
