These positions are located in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Programs Office. They have the responsibility for programmatic/fiscal oversight, planning, development, implementation, and assessment of grant programs that address drug and general crime prevention and control management of offenders, and improvement in the policies, procedures, and information management systems used by criminal/juvenile justice agencies at state, local and tribal levels.

Examples of specialized experience include assisting in researching and analyzing established or simple grant management program issues; acting as liaison with individuals and groups both inside and outside an organization regarding routine grant management program matters; and/or performing program support activities, such as monitoring, reviewing, and tracking automated systems for incoming grants, grantee reports, and other documentation; performing preliminary review of grant applications for standard information and documentation; and determining and inputting the types of grants data and sources required for ad hoc reporting.SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the GS-9 level may be met by two (2) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education, or completion of all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.B or J.D. degree. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. Technical Qualifications:Ability to provide advice and guidance on grant, cooperative agreement, or other funding policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and guidelines.Ability to plan and execute work.Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.Knowledge of the laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and methods governing Federal grants, cooperative agreements, and/or other types of awards.Ability to communicate in writing.
