You will serve as a Firefighter (Paramedic) in the AC/S Security and Emergency Services Division of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will administer multiple established emergency medicine techniques to minimize life threatening conditions. You will maintain care of emergency equipment (e.g., backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, oxygen delivery systems, monitoring equipment, specialized kits and bags) to ensure safety upon treating patients. You will assess a patient systematically to identify the nature, extent, and seriousness of the patient's condition. You will provide invasive airway procedures (e.g., needle or surgical cricothyrotomy, pleural decompression, endotracheal intubation, nasal intubation) to establish an airway during life threatening situations. You will participate in daily training/ instruction covering all phases of fire protection and prevention.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position requires rotating shift work with a 72 hour work week schedule.
  • Selectee must possess a valid state driver's license. Must be able to obtain a valid State of California State Driver's License class "B" within 30 days of appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid State of California Department of Motor Vehicles Firefighter Endorsement within 30 days of appointment.
  • GS-08 And GS-09: Must possess a State or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (EMT-P) certificate. And possession of a valid County of San Diego Accreditation within 60 days of appointment
  • GS-09: Must possess a Firefighter I and II Certificate by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or ProBoard.
  • GS-09: Must possess a Hazardous Materials Awareness Certificate by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or ProBoard.
  • GS-09: Must possess a Hazardous Materials Operations Certificate by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or ProBoard

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing and providing structural and wild land firefighting, emergency medical response and treatment (e.g., Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); basic, intermediate, and advanced life support (ALS); airway management, emergency childbirth, mass casualty triage), rescue operations (e.g., high and low angle rescue, trench confined space rescue, auto extrication), hazardous materials response, responding to airfield and aircraft emergencies, and transporting emergency personnel and patients safely to emergency room. GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing emergency medical response and treatment (e.g., Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); basic, intermediate, and advanced life support (ALS); airway management, emergency childbirth, mass casualty triage), rescue operations (e.g., high and low angle rescue, trench confined space rescue, auto extrication) and transporting emergency personnel and patients safely to emergency room.
