This is a RFT (full-time) position as a Family Child Care Coordinator located on Joint Base Langley-Eustis VA - Ft Eustis location. Position is guaranteed 35 hours per week. This position may be subject to holidays, nights, weekends and on-call work.

Duties

Ensures Family Child Care Program (FCC) policies and procedures are in place and followed; recruits new providers to support the mission of the program. Informs and disseminates FCC regulatory information to FCC providers, substitutes, and community members. Provides oversight and support for FCC programs that includes regular full time weekly childcare, resource and referral and the range of specialized programs that fall within the Air Force Expanded Child Care Program. Provides base agencies with names of FCC providers and contact information. Performs detailed, monthly, and unannounced inspections of FCC homes. Serves as the sponsor for the FCC homes to the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Performs inspections in enrolled homes to determine compliance with state and federal USDA regulations. Ensure USDA CACFP requirements are met. Identifies, evaluates, and documents areas where provider is not in compliance with Air Force requirements. Informs providers of deficiencies and performs follow-ups with site visits until appropriate corrections are made. Reports deficiencies and violations to the FCC Panel. If deficiencies are identified that are life-threatening, takes immediate and appropriate action to protect children. Acts as liaison with the Family Advocacy Office (FAO)and other appropriate base agencies on child abuse and neglect protection, identification, and reporting issues concerning FCC homes. Serves as a mandated reporter to FAO and other appropriate base agencies in the case of suspected incidents of child abuse and neglect. Ensures annual unannounced comprehensive FCC home inspections are conducted by a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with the Military Child Care Act, Air Force, and other federal and state regulatory requirements. Drives on/off base, to and from offices, units and other related facilities to perform FCC Coordinator duties. Performs a variety of duties in support of the FCC Programs to include background checks, management of resources, establishment and maintenance of a resource-lending program, accomplishment of required reports, creation and maintenance of necessary documentation and files, and carrying out of public relations tasks. Ensures FCC providers and family member background checks are initiated, monitored, completed, documented, and reverified annually. Gathers and coordinates documents for the FCC Panel to review and evaluate the qualifications and suitability of applicants and current FCC providers. Attends panel meetings in a staff/non-voting role to provide current information on waiting lists, status of the FCC Program, recruiting efforts etc. Analyzes and evaluates FCC homes, providers, and needs of parents and children to identify the best options for placement. Manages allocated resources (e.g., funds, supplies, facilities, educational, health and safety expendable and durable items) to meet the mission of the FCC Program. Establishes and maintains a resource lending program to enhance the quality of FCC and reduce costs for providers and parents. Selects, purchases, collects, and maintains childcare equipment and supplies. Maintains individual FCC provider files in accordance with established guidelines. Performs public relations duties to promote and support the FCC. Programs and implements an aggressive marketing plan to address installation childcare demand. Provides informational materials to parents and leadership addressing childcare availability, options, and potential referrals. Promotes the benefits and services of the FCC Program. Researches, writes articles, and prepares and delivers presentations on services and activities. Responds to questions and clarifies issues involving the FCC Program. Attends meetings to educate and advocate for the program as necessary. Prepares, submits, and maintains narrative and statistical data and reports. Provides inputs for required annual reports. Provides training to FCC providers on business practices, supervision and accountability, child abuse, identifying, prevention, and reporting fire, safety, and health regulations, child nutrition etc. Provides onsite training to providers based on needs assessed during home visits. Serves as an educational advisor and resource person for the FCC provider. In conjunction with Training and Curriculum Specialists, develops annual training schedule that includes training on child development, youth support, curriculum, guidance, working with children of mixed age groupings, or related areas. Develops and actively implements a parental involvement plan. Ensures that parents are kept informed of policy changes and program activities. Provides advice and guidance to parents considering any special needs for referral to other agencies; provides referral options. Advises families on FCC Program and the variety of Expanded Child Care Programs offered. Processes and coordinates requests from families for Air Force Expanded Child Care Programs.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Successful completion of an undergraduate Degree that included or was supplemented by major study (at least 24 hrs) in child development or early childhood education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled consistent with position in CDC or FCC (or a combination of education and experience). Appropriate experience and course work must be comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as described above. Knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts, and practices of early childhood development encompassing infant through school-age youth and child development theory, methodology, and practices. Knowledge of childcare regulation requirements and policies. Skill in developing curricula which supports physical, emotional, social, cognitive development, and identifying children with special needs. Skill in developing, adapting, and providing training to staff members, family childcare providers, and parents as well as food service and custodial staff. Skill in the administration and interpretation of the environmental, program, and child abuse probability assessments. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Must pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate, and satisfactorily complete installation, state and national criminal background checks, Tier -1. Must possess maturity and good judgment and like working with children/youth and their parents. "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use". Education
