You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY OFFICE, COMMAND OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT, of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will evaluate effectiveness of the existing physical security posture and recommend the type of security measures, control requirements, procedures, and facilities needed.
You will maintain an effective key and lock control program.
You will implement security procedures for the certification and maintenance of secure rooms and containers.
You will execute physical security surveys of assigned facilities.
You will implement command security procedures for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information.
You will receive requests for security clearances and apply appropriate DoD regulations regarding the type of personnel security investigation required.
You will prepare necessary reports, investigative packets, and maintain personnel security clearance records.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You must obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Physical Security Certification (PSC). Failure to obtain SFPC and PSC within 2 years may result in removal.
Qualifications
For the GS-09 Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying security concepts, principles and practices to administer a security program and resolve security issues. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Implementing command security procedures for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information; 2) Utilizing knowledge of personnel security, physical security, information security and industrial security policies and procedures; 3) Conducting physical security surveys and vulnerability assessments to identify deficiencies within the program; 4) Interpreting and applying agency guidelines, regulations, and policies; and 5) Applying working knowledge of a variety of standard and state-of-the-art security equipment, systems, and devices to recommend appropriate protective methods and security
For the GS-07 Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying security concepts, principles and practices to administer a security program and resolve security issues. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Analyzing and implementing procedures for information; 2) Interpreting and applying agency guidelines, regulations, and policies; 3) Working knowledge of security equipment, systems, and devices; and 4) Assisting with conducting physical security surveys and vulnerability assessments to identify deficiencies within the program.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
For the GS-09 Level:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
For the GS-07 Level:
1 full year of graduate level education
OR
Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
