You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (PASSENGER / OA) in the DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT OFFICE (DMO), G-4 of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will examine travel requests for overseas transportation submitted by the major commands at Camp Lejeune, Camp Johnson, Camp Geiger and Marine Corps Air Station New River for personnel traveling on orders. You will be responsible for providing information to the commands on the eligibility criteria for government transportation. You will be responsible for transposing information from unit request for routine and short fuse TAD port calls. You will verify entitlements or authorization for travel, monitor orders to ensure that correct SDN/CIC is constructed. You will furnish travel estimates to the various Fiscal Offices for budgetary purposes. You will arrange complex travel itineraries for military and civilian personnel traveling at Government expense to various foreign destinations which regularly involve worldwide travel. You will process applications to obtain no-fee passports for personnel on official business to include diplomatic, official, and no fee regular for military dependents. You will ensure travelers have the required passports, visas or area clearances to various worldwide destinations according to the entry regulations of each foreign port. You will provide the travelers with information to assist them upon their arrival at the port. You will Review Defense Travel Request (DTS), and vouchers for correct travel authorizations and selected payment.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to possess a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position is subject to recall and may require the incumbent to work other than normal duty hours inclusive of nights and weekends.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) assisting in arranging complex travel for military and civilian personnel traveling on official travel orders utilizing knowledge of established travel regulations, carrier guides, schedules, services, and facilities; 2) ensuring travel request prerequisites are met and in proper format for processing submittal; 3) processing applications for travel passports; and 4) verifying passenger travel entitlements are in accordance with established regulations. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education

In lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, you may also qualify through one of the following:
Successful completion of four years of education above high school level;
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
