Incumbent serves as the Staff Assistant for the Sterile Processing Services (SPS), with special emphasis on training and competencies for all personnel involved in the care, handling and reprocessing of Critical and Semi-Critical Reusable Medical Equipment (RME).
Duties
Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Complies and tracks data and statistical information supporting the medical centers reusable medical equipment and sterilization processes.
Maintains and monitors training schedules for all Sterile Processing Service (SPS) personnel and assists other work groups in the development or presentation of educational offerings aligned with Reusable Medical Equipment (RME).
Interprets and Adapts to current processes for conformance to policy and guidelines.
Coordinates data from other sources to ensure documents, reports, and applications for omissions changes and inconsistencies.
Plans and organizes work for achievement of goals and objectives of reusable medical equipment and scope mandates.
Maintains and monitors standard operating procedures, competency assessment, and education needs assessment.
Reviews, analyzes, and interprets incoming requests, recommends appropriate action, or suggests appropriate alternatives based on internal operations, agency policies, budgetary constraints, and work priorities.
Utilizes exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/22/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-07 Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 to qualify for the GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Providing administrative management of the section, interpreting administrative policies, developing and implementing new policies.
Defining administrative and training requirements and/or providing advice on related issues.
Keeping SPS Chief informed of the status of on-going personnel actions and provides advice on solving complex personnel-related problems.
Monitoring progress and compliance with mission critical performance measures. OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed one (1) full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. OR
Combination: Applicants may combine education and experience to qualify at the GS -07 level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond successfully completed graduate level education (more than the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements.
GS-09 Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: You must show one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining and monitoring training schedules for all SPS personnel and assists other work groups in the development or presentation of educational offerings aligned with RME.
Drafting requests and providing justification for new positions and position upgrades within SPS.
Serving as timekeeper for section and back up for other sections.
Performing program cost analyses, such as cost-benefit or economic evaluations of programs and equipment
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.To qualify based on education for this grade level GS-09 you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. in a field related to this position that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work or stands to instruct. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
