Duties
Maintains version control of all operating system and standard supported software as they become available
Consults with customers to identify priorities and best approaches for integrating systems administration requirement into daily operations.
Interprets regulations on their own initiative, applies new methods to resolve complex, intricate, controversial, or unprecedented IT issues.
Applies systems testing and evaluation principles, methods, and tools sufficient to plan and carry out difficult and complex systems integration.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to provide guidance to customers.
Monitor, troubleshoot systems, diagnoses, and recovers failed system.

Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate or Graduate Education:Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
This series covers two-grade interval administrators that manage, supervise, lead, administer, develop, deliver, and support information technology (IT) systems and services. This series covers only those positions for which the paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods, e.g., data storage, software applications, networking. Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.
Specialized Experience Requirement- GS-2210-9 level:
You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-2210-7 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system; planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency; evaluating system performance data to identify and address inefficiencies; identifying problems, ascertaining root cause and impact and providing recommendations for resolution.
OR
Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a discipline listed below.
Specialized Experience Requirement- GS-2210-11 level:
You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-2210-9 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: experience in IT and telecommunication systems integration methods; in systems development, modification, testing, installation, operations, and maintenance; in electronic principles and scientific theory with formulas; in communication and ability to modify existing systems and review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex technical problems; preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies involving summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion; managing some or all of a project; providing oversight in the integration of information technology systems to ensure compliance with software and business requirements.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a discipline listed below.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
