About the Position: Serve as Chief of the Acquisition Management Branch in a Program Management Division of a Project Management organization responsible for planning and developing the acquisition strategy for major weapon system(s). Position requires a mastery of Procurement Laws, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Army FAR Supplement (AFARS), AMCOM Supplements to the FAR and technical disciplines such as Production, Engineering, Configuration, Logistics and Program Management.
Duties
Determines the amount of funding, equipment, supplies and other support needed.
Collaborates with supervisors of other organizations to coordinate work and related changes affecting other units.
Maintain liaison with Project Manager, Deputy PMs, Technical Management, Logistics Management, Configuration Management, and Administration in connection with program segment(s).
Influences other departments to provide timely and accurate inputs to the acquisition requirements, to streamline the acquisition process, to process acquisition documents, and to execute and administer contracts.
Provides expert consultant services for procurement laws and regulations, acquisition strategy, production capabilities, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) actions, and contract administration.
Represents the assigned area(s) in conferences/meetings that require extensive preparation to exchange information, evaluate/coordinate projects, defend actions, propose solutions and discuss and resolve complex problems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Contracting certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty.
- This position requires submission of Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually thereafter.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/ GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service that includes: 1) Interpreting regulations and directives emanating from higher levels; 2) Developing plans for executing acquisition initiatives to include development of new or modifying existing contracting and acquisition systems; and 3) Providing assistance with highly visible and complex procurements.
