Duties

Duty 1: Manages the Command's LAN/WAN systems and oversees LAN operations, development of new network systems, and fielding/configuration/installation of Intelligence Community-related hardware/software. DUTY 2: Administers the Command Risk Management Framework (RMF) Program and protects Information Technology (IT) assets against unauthorized, accidental, or deliberate modification, disclosure, and destruction of data. DUTY 3: Keeps abreast of emerging technology to predict future network needs. DUTY 4: As a senior IT specialist, participates in management discussions, meetings, committees, or special projects.

Requirements

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designation special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information to perform the duties of the position. A non-disclosure must be signed.

Qualifications

This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements. 2. Knowledge of the network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols. 3. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems. 4. Knowledge of complex configuration management techniques, and requirements appropriate to managing Command-level network systems. 5. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems; and to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and computer applications from an operational perspective. 6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements. 7. Knowledge/Expertise in security disciplines that affect AF JWICS including: physical, personnel, computer, and the Risk Management Framework. Other conditions of employment: Key: The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CANNOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve" PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
