About the Position: The position is located in the Directorate for Dentistry, Department of Readiness. Work is performed in an office setting, clinic hours are 0700-1600. This position supports Leadership, Administrative, and inter-departmental personnel; involving good communication skills.

Duties
Coordinates and consults with department supervisors on program administrative matters.
Schedules appointments and makes arrangements for meetings
Identify problems with health care processes and recommend alternatives to improve processes
Make recommendations to the chain of command, Executive Leadership, Department Chiefs, and Service Chiefs/Clinical Managers on findings that may affect productivity, access and quality of service.
Monitor and manage employee training plans.
Extracts, analyzes, summarizes, and identifies significant trends and issues regarding health care services.
Establishes and maintains manpower database information for the Department including numbers of direct and indirect personnel, organizational locations, and availability for accomplishment of programmed workload
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This positon may require the incumbent to complete a one year supervisory probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing various databases and healthcare systems such as Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), or TRICARE to monitor the healthcare delivery processes within a medical treatment facility (MTF); assist in the preparation of the annual budget; and identifying and reporting any quality improvement issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
