About the Position: The position is to perform technical work and serve as the installation expert supporting one or more military personnel programs, operations, or functions. The incumbent is responsible for a variety of duties involved in military programs related to Soldiers processing through the Soldier Support Center.
Duties
Perform technical work and serve as the installation expert supporting one or more military personnel programs, operations, or functions.
Provide factual information regarding directly applicable rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements to provide explanations of actions taken or recommended.
Prepare correspondence, letters, statistical reports, orders, and conducts briefings as required.
Supervise lower-level clerks and independently processes actions which involve recurring and routine and occasionally unusual or complex procedural or substantive issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime on an emergency basis.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing guidance on work and administrative matters concerning personnel or policy changes; reviewing documentation for accuracy compliance with military regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to military personnel actions and records; and providing advice to the organization regarding human resources that include personnel actions, position management, transition/separation services, and military personnel records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
