About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Training and Leader Development, U.S. Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Screen calls and visitors to Directorate. Review incoming/outgoing correspondence and maintain suspense register. Maintain calendar for Director and Technical Director. Manage administrative procedures for Directorate. Coordinate and edit Officer and Non-commissioned Officer Evaluation reports. Prepare a variety of correspondence and reports. Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare travel orders and vouchers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • A fully qualified typist is required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: preparing a variety of documents using computer software applications; preparing correspondence in correct format; arranging for travel and lodging reservations; utilizing travel management system such as Defense Travel System to create travel authorizations and vouchers; gathering data used for reports; receiving calls and visitors; maintaining Outlook calendar for superiors; coordinating for high-level visitors, meetings and conferences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Qualified Typist Requirement: In addition to meeting the experience or education requirements, for all positions titled as Office Automation or any clerical positions which has parenthetical title of Office Automation (OA), applicants must have typing proficiency of 40 words per minute (wpm). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer ServiceDecision MakingManages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
