The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical support to the Child and Youth Programs. Works under direct supervision of the Child Development Director or School-Age Coordinator/Youth Director. Assists with supervision of the facility in the absence of facility manager/director.
Duties
Provides information about the organization, functions, activities, and personnel. Administers programs and serves as the primary source of information.
Maintains files and records and utilizes a wide variety of software to produce final products. Assists in developing plans and creating schedules at the Child Development Center(s) or School-Age Care program.
Provides Child Abuse and Force Protection measures. Screens children for admission.
Computes, collects, records, and deposits fees for all child development center programs. Assists with management and control of facility, equipment, and supplies.
Prepares and processes purchase requests. Monitors desk clerks financial operations.

- This position is a child care/youth services position and is subject to background checks in accordance with AFI 34-144, Child and Youth Programs as a condition of employment
- Physical demands are required to perform the work such as lifting up to 40 lbs. As such, a physical examination and immunizations are required in accordance with AFI34-144
- May be required to work weekends and evenings
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid drivers license is required for the position
- The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt
- This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101- 647 Section 231, Public Law 102-190, Section 1094, and DoD Instruction 1402.05, background checks are required

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NK-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in common clerical and administrative practices such as performing regular office routines, maintaining records, preparing purchase orders and ordering of supplies and equipment as well as knowledge in Child Development Centers or Youth programs.
NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

EDUCATION: 4 years above High School education.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Child Development Center or Youth programs and procedures to perform duties such as; provide information about CDC programs, provide customer support, prepare reports, etc..
Knowledge of common clerical and administrative practices such as performing regular office routines, maintaining records, preparing purchase orders and ordering of supplies and equipment.
Knowledge of filing systems and procedures, the materials covering the activities of the child care centers and established resource planning procedures in the child care environment.
Skill in effectively communicating with a diverse population with various social, national, cultural, and occupational backgrounds.
Ability to learn money handling techniques and analyze fee collection procedures.
Ability to utilize several types of software to accomplish a variety of office needs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
