About the Position: The Executive Officer serves as a principal advisor to the Commander, Headquarters Command Battalion, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Responsible for the readiness sustainment of more than 400 assigned, attached, and directly supported Soldiers.
Duties
Provides staff advice, assistance and consultation in response to management inquiries concerning staff actions.
Recommend new policies and revisions of policy, program documents, and regulations to provide advice and assistance
Perform delegated personnel management tasks over a military and civilian workforce.
Manage Army Human Resources for the Battalion to include evaluations, awards, casualty operations, and personnel actions and requests through use of Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the employee to temporarily travel away from their normal duty station up to 10% of the time for work, training and/or conferences.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized experience is defined as experience developing staff actions and projects; providing expertise in the area of personnel management or determining manpower and budget requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).
