About the Position: As a Branch Chief, incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating work involved in the development of plans for the preservation of environmental, fish and wildlife, forest, and cultural resources, and the development of plans to preserve and enhance the environment of water resources projects in the district.

Duties

Ensures that all environmental design features are considered in the planning process, and where appropriate, are incorporated in the project design for Civil Works projects. Supervises the subordinate branch staff and effectively plans, directs, implements, modifies, and controls the branch work activities. Provides constant attention to work coordination and integration and consolidation of work of the sections to produce comprehensive and complete work products and services. Makes decisions, recommendations, and conclusions that are considered authoritative and have considerable influence and impact on the overall environmental program activities. Participates in conferences and meetings to promote cooperation, present proposals, negotiate agreements, resolve problems, establish ground rules, etc. Represent the US Army Corp of Engineers on matters concerning environmental considerations in water resources development to internal and external partners.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 20% of the time.
• One-year probationary period may be required.
