About the Position: Serves as a Senior Regional Planning and Environmental Division South Environmental Specialist and Expert for the New Orleans, Vicksburg, and Memphis District of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Duties

Provides advice to Division Chief and other staff in area of expertise on the most complicated, local, regional, and nationally significant civil works projects. Reviews environmental methodologies and results of environmental studies on the most complicated, regionally and nationally significant civil works projects. Accomplishes technically challenging environmental analysis of water resources projects. Assists the team by balancing workload, recommends assignments by skill level and adjusting workload necessary to meet revised milestones. Trains the environmental team, monitors progress, and maintains technical references. Assists the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and provides leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made in processes, procedures, and work methods.

Basic Education Requirement: Community Planner - 0020 Archeologist - 0193 Biologist - 0401 Ecologist - 0408 Wildlife Biologist - 0486 Landscape Architect - 0807 Engineer - 0819 Physical Scientist - 1301 AND Specialized Experience for the GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) evaluating environmental impacts on projects; AND 2) performing environmental assessments and analyses for water resource projects; AND 3) ensuring projects are compliant with established environmental guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Environmental PlanningLeadershipTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. For the GS-13 you must have 52 weeks at the GS-12 level. With regards to time-in-grade validation, if you held a position other than a GS pay plan, be sure your resume includes the pay plan and the salary you earned during the assignment. Without this information, your time-in-grade validation may not be able to be verified and will result in your not meeting the time-grade requirement for this vacancy.
