About the Position:
This is a permanent Logistics Management Specialist (AMMO) position with the U.S. Army Central Command at Shaw AFB, SC.
Duties
Serves as the senior ammunition staff planning specialist and technical advisor with program responsibility to review, coordinate, and develop munitions requirements, stockage objectives, and critical planning factors.
Develops and formulates munitions portions of USARCENT OPLAN's, CONPLAN's and other contingency operations.
Provides advice and assistance to USARCENT staff and major subordinate commands, CENTCOM service components and NATO allies in the Middle East regarding Army munitions logistics policy, doctrine, systems and capabilities.
Conducts, analyzes and participates in studies, surveys, or initiatives related to munitions management programs and planning functions.
Coordinates efforts of other specialists participating in these projects, evaluates and integrates findings into a completed staff project, presents and obtains approval of programs and plans developed, and monitors execution of plans.
Recommends actions to correct deficiencies and initiates improvement programs and projects as appropriate or required.
Represents the command at higher and lateral headquarters, MACOM's, subordinate commands, and staff elements on munitions planning matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- 50% temporary duty travel (TSY) required.
- Pre-employment and random thereafter drug testing required.
- This position is Key and Mission essential. The nature of the position prohibits the position from being vacated during a national emergency or mobilization and cannot be filled by Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) applying analytical and evaluative methods to analyze and measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of operations; 2) investigating, analyzing, and effecting corrective action of ammunition-related problems; 3) implementing surveillance techniques and procedures to inspect munition facilities to ensure proper care, use, and storage of munitions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
