The Program Support Assistant works collaboratively with local VA Medical Center providers, providers at other VA Medical Centers and with local community vendors, including home care and hospice agencies, local hospitals, long term care facilities, etc. Direct oversight is provided by the Community Health Program manager and indirectly by the Chief of Integrated Health Services. The incumbent will provide program support assistance to the community health nurse coordinators.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The incumbent will be responsible for telephone and written correspondence with providers, outside vendors, and local community hospitals and agencies. The incumbent will maintain program supplies and equipment, including independently identifying needs and making acquisitions. Places appropriate orders and tracks requests through delivery. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving, tracking and appropriately forwarding or processing incoming outside medical records, treatment plans, outside provider orders. The incumbent will be responsible to establish a monitoring system for tracking, admission, discharges, authorizations and extensions, non-VA services purchased through the Community Health Program. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting, compiling and tracking statistical informat on to support the program operations, including productivity/workload reports, patient/ purchased care tracking reports The incumbent will be responsible for statistical analysis of date and report preparation . The incumbent will serve as liaison with transportation in the requesting and obtaining vehicles for field visits. In the event vehicles are permanently assigned to the program, incumbent will become primary liaison with transportation service for managing , maintaining and scheduling use of vehicles assigned to the program in accordance with established policy/guidelines. The incumbent must maintain privacy and confidentiality of Veterans' medical records Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant/PD06825A Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; typically, the incumbent is comfortably seated to perform required work. The position requires some physical effort, including standing, walking, bending, filing, liftin?? or carrying light weight items such as files, mail, and supplies in and through all parts of the facility. The incumbent is required to answer numerous telephone and personal inquiries and must have adequate eyesight, manual dexterity to allow for reading, operating computer, fax, printer and other similar office equipment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 01/07/2025. GS-06 Specialized experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms. Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Identifies a need; gathers, organizes, and maintains information; determines its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods. Effectively expresses information to multiple audiences through clear, convincing oral and written communications; demonstrates logical thinking when describing facts and concepts, and shapes communications to meet the needs of a specific audience; actively listens to others and demonstrates understanding of their comments and/or questions. There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
