This vacancy is for a Chief of Staff position in the Acquisitions Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.
Duties
As a Chief of Staff, typical work assignments may include:
Serves as a senior trusted advisor to the Acquisition Division Chief; Analyzes data, daily operations and organizational structure to inform recommendations
Represents the Acquisition Division on both routine and highly complex and/or sensitive matters; Coordinates with internal Census Bureau stakeholders, external DOC stakeholders, other federal or state agencies or industry on complex projects.
Provides recommendations for improving business practices from both an operational productivity and an oversight/compliance perspective.
Uses program management skills to identify and engage resources, track progress, and ensure project deadlines are met.

Qualifications
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Chief of Staff, 0301-15, FPL GS-15, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Specialized Experience For GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 or equivalent level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: 1) Experience as an advisor and liaison to senior management on sensitive information and activities; 2) Experience in managing and coordinating tasks for executive level actions; 3) Experience in conducting executive level briefings; 4) Experience leading workforce management, staffing and recruitment, workforce efficiencies, workforce development and training, organizational cultures, and team dynamics; and 5) Experience developing partnerships, creating collaborative team environments of diverse activities to include working with multiple liaisons and outside stakeholders.
Education: Education can not substitute for experience at this grade level.
