This vacancy is for a CHIEF OF STAFF position in the Administrative & Customer Services Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other CHIEF OF STAFF, 0301, 15, FPL GS-15 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Duties

Coordinates and directs the accomplishment of responsibilities for the resource management functions to include budget, program requirements, cost analysis, business operations, and workforce management for division operations. Recommends and develops innovative solutions and methodologies for division operations related to facilities, space management, leasing, conference planning, transportation, health and safety, property, printing, and customer services. Determines strategic goals and objectives as well as long-range plans and strategies for division programs and functions. Manages and leads a diverse team in achieving the mission of the organization.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE For the GS-15, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Demonstrated experience for this position includes: Strategic analysis, strategic management, resource management, and financial management of division functions. Performing extensive analysis for division programs which have significant agency wide impact and recommend solutions. Conducting special studies, evaluations, and briefings to assist in the decision-making process, preparation of status, progress, and Special Reports; preparation and presentation of management briefings. Supervising or leading a team or staff. Education: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
