This vacancy is for a Supervisory Geographic Specialist position in the Geography Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Supervisory Geographic Specialist, 0301, 15, FPL GS-15 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and testing of approved address, cartographic, and geospatial data products.
Collaborate within U.S. Census Bureau's Geography Division and with various stakeholders to assure understanding and integration of product requirements into the maintenance of data within MAF/TIGER System and its associated applications.
Oversee and direct the work of individuals and project teams.
Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders about existing address, cartographic, and geospatial products.
Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to Identify new geospatial products where appropriate in support of the Census Bureau's data collection and data dissemination activities.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to or at the lower grade level, GS-14 in the federal service. Experience includes: managing and coordinating tasks for project teams; identifying and resolving issues with individual staff or project teams; engagement with internal and external stakeholders; coordinating with subject matter experts and information technology professionals to oversee the development, testing, release, and maintenance of various address, cartographic and geospatial products; designing, developing and disseminating products in support of the overall collection and dissemination of Census Bureau data; identifying customer needs, managing expectations, and keeping them informed of project statuses; presenting geographic concepts in person and in writing to a variety of audiences.
Education cannot be substituted for experience.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
