This vacancy is for a Supervisory Geographic Specialist position in the Geography Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Duties
Lead the review and release of geographic program materials including maps, map services and applications, generalized boundary files, and
geocoding products.
Manage the development of geographic applications and tools used to produce maps and spatial files and perform geocoding.
Oversee and direct the work of individuals and project teams.
Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the sharing of information and acquisition of geospatial data.
Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Managing and coordinating tasks for project teams; identifying and resolving issues with individual staff or project teams; engagement with internal and external stakeholders; coordinating with subject matter experts and information technology professionals to oversee the development, testing, release, and maintenance of applications; developing and disseminating program materials or products used to convey geographic concepts and programs; identifying customer needs, managing expectations, and keeping them informed of project statuses; presenting geographic concepts in person and in writing to a variety of audiences.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
