You will serve as a Supervisory Intelligence Specialist (Department Head) in the Brooks Center for Maritime Engagement of OFFICE OF MARITIME ENGAGEMENT. This position is located in Suitland, MD.
All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will oversee and manage intelligence professionals providing collection, foreign language, analysis and technical support.
You will supervise divisions responsible for areas of open-source collection; intelligence production and dissemination; digital data acquisition; foreign language translation and interpretation; security control officer processes and procedures.
You will hire and select employees; manage and appraise employees' performance; discipline employees, and resolve employee complaints.
You will interface directly with the Contracting Office Representative (COR) to track and monitor all aspects of contract performance.
You will support the Center with commercial acquisition contracts and open-source research plans in coordination with the National Open Source Committee (NOSC) and Defense Open Source Committee (DOSC) and other government stakeholders.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required.
- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Overseeing and managing intelligence professionals providing collection, foreign language, analysis and technical support 2) Supervising divisions responsible for areas of open source collection; intelligence production and dissemination; digital data acquisition; foreign language translation and interpretation; security control officer processes and procedures 3) Hiring and selecting employees; managing and appraising employees performance; disciplining employees; resolving employee complaints; 4) Interfacing directly with the Contracting Office Representative (COR) to track and monitor all aspects of contract performance; 5) Supporting the command or agency with commercial acquisition contracts and open source research plans in coordination with the National Open Source Committee (NOSC) and Defense Open source Committee (DOSC) and other government stakeholders.
