Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Supervisory Public Health Advisor, you will be: Planning, organizing, promoting, and coordinating efforts to develop new, more effective approaches to the delivery of substance use disorder treatment services for adult and juvenile criminal justice involved or at-risk adult and juvenile criminal justice populations as indicated. Responsible for managing, coordinating, planning, organizing and developing programs to enhance and/or expand treatment for criminal/juvenile justice involved or at risk for involvement populations and other populations as indicated. Providing guidance and oversight on the technical direction of grants and contracts awarded by SAMHSA/CSAT and ensures that project officers exercise appropriate grant monitoring and quality control over the activities of grantees and contractors. Providing national leadership in the topic of criminal/juvenile justice and substance use disorder (SUD)/alcohol use disorder (AUD)/opioid use disorder (OUD)/co-occurring (COD). The incumbent develops public-facing resources such as white papers, issue briefs, journal articles, fact sheets and toolkits, as well as briefing binders and talking points for leadership. Directing general schedule highly technical and support personnel. The incumbent determines the staff and resources required to devote to each of the branch functions and assigns work to assure completion of the various projects undertaken. Establishing methods for the continuing evaluation of Branch activities and for adjusting goals, objectives, and plans in response to changes in priorities and policies, new program initiatives, or other significant developments.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: 1) Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities; 2) Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings; 3) Knowledge of a specialized public health program; 4) Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions; 5) Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: 1) Working with community, State and/or Federal entities to provide resources and support for those for key stakeholders. 2) Working with underrepresented communities, with emphasis on providing substance use disorders (SUD)/opioid use disorder (OUD) resources within these populations. 3) Developing reports and presentations, with the intention to presenting findings at conferences, symposiums, and to key stakeholders. 4) Supervising or leading a team.
