About the Position: This position is located in the US Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logisitics Readiness Center on Fort Cavazos, TX.
Duties
Operate forklifts and container handling equipment capable of lifting 2,000 to 55,000 pounds, respectively, to move, load or unload, transfer and transport, and stack or unstack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, materials and supplies.
Maneuver material handling equipment over uneven terrain, over improved or unimproved roads, and through congested areas, exercising caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, and similar locations.
Ensure outgoing items are properly marked, labeled, tagged, and/or in properly marked containers.
Perform a full variety of warehousing tasks to include shipping, receiving, inventory, storage, retrieval and issue.
Complete required warehousing documentation and record keeping.
Assemble and pack supplies and equipment for issue or shipment.
Requirements
- Incumbent must successfully obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain forklift training certification and license.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain container handler training certification and license.
- A pre-employment physical is required.
- This position is covered by the Drug Free Workplace Program. It is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion or due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator/Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include 1) stock, rotate, and mark stock items; 2) Utilize computer terminal equipment to determine stock locations and make selections by quantity and stock numbers; 3) Operate a forklift to maintain and arrange storage areas in accordance safety procedures. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Warehouse and container yard work requires prolonged standing on hard surfaces, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, positions and carries supplies and equipment weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering and tilting the loads being moved. Motor vehicle and material handling operation requires good hand and eye coordination in the manipulation of gears, levers, brakes, steering wheel, etc.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting loads and overturning. Equipment is operated wherever it is needed.
