Duties
Serves as the Branch Chief, Security Engineering and Integration Branch, Cybersecurity Operations.
Oversees a team of information system security engineers, providing guidance on security architecture requirements, system hardening, risk mitigation, cybersecurity practices, and compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) policies.
Develops, implements, and maintains the cybersecurity security engineering and integration program, ensuring alignment with critical agency objectives and specified outcomes outlined in the business strategy.
Supervises the technical evaluation of hardware, software, and components, oversees risk analyses, and provides strategic guidance on security architecture requirements for systems.
Ensures compliance with DoD policies and procedures and directs the assessment of systems to identify deviations from acceptable configurations and policy compliance.
Oversees the measurement of the effectiveness of system hardening and defense-in-depth architectures against known vulnerabilities.
Provides guidance to subordinate technical subject matter experts on identifying technical, policy, and procedural solutions to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
Leads a team in assessing the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data, and coordinates efforts to plan, analyze, develop, implement, and enhance cybersecurity programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Coordinates technical risk assessments on hardware, software, and components to inform risk-related decision-making, and guides the development and maintenance of relationships with organizational staff, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
Directs system audits using a variety of security tools to identify anomalies and vulnerabilities and supports incident response activities as needed.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, procedures, and practices, including security architecture, risk assessment, and mitigation.
Proven experience in leading and supervising teams, with the ability to direct and coordinate team efforts, communicate key priorities, and integrate resources.
In-depth knowledge of IT and OT systems, including hardware, software, and components, as well as cybersecurity tools and technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide the development and maintenance of relationships with organizational staff, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize risks, and propose effective mitigations.
B. Education Substitution: Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
