You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST of NAVY OFFICE OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH.
Duties
You will plan senior executive outreach events in support of Navy strategic communication objectives in close coordination with staff principles, staffs and non-government agencies.
You will prepare written and oral recommendations in accordance with Dept. of the Navy public affairs instruction, communication strategy and outreach goals, leveraging expertise to support and guide executive outreach events.
You will track and review American Legion Spirit of Service Award submissions, prepare Navy nominations for board selection. One member from each branch of service receives this prestigious award annually at the American Legion's National Convention.
You will be responsible for assigning and prioritizing tasks from staff and contract support personnel; serves as the department lead during absence of Executive Outreach program manager.
You will receive, review and process Speakers Bureau requests, ensuring that submissions are accurate and matched with an appropriate Navy guest speaker.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience planning, coordinating, organizing and managing executive level outreach programs.
- Experience coordinating public speaking engagements.
- Experience performing public affairs consultation, including media operations experience in accordance with Navy public affairs guidance, policies, and regulations.
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience planning, coordinating, organizing and executing outreach events.
- Experience coordinating public speaking engagements for senior leaders.
- Experience performing public affairs consultation, including knowledge of media operations in accordance with Navy public affairs guidance, policies, and regulations.

Education
GS-11: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
