You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST with the NAVY OFFICE OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH.

Duties

You will be responsible for leading a team of military and civilian personnel to develop, plan, execute, and evaluate Navy communication strategies, tactics, and policies. You will significantly contribute to the Navy’s mission of informing and educating stakeholders about their nation’s maritime forces and missions. You will serve as a top subject matter expert in the assigned communication areas, providing technical and administrative direction to communication programs, operations, and activities that impact Navy policies, staff, and domestic operations . You will advise CHINFO senior staff and other Navy leaders on matters relating to assigned communication activities. You will provide direction and guidance to a team of U.S. Navy public affairs personnel in the planning and execution of Navy community outreach objectives.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing complex communications strategies, specifically related to community outreach and communication with external publics. Promoting nationwide community outreach programs to engage and/or educate diverse audiences. Resource management experience, specifically formulating and executing multi-million-dollar budgets. Practical experience developing human capital strategies that align with current and future missions, as well as overseeing compliance with administrative policies and procedures for military and civilian personnel.
