You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Navy Office of Information of NAVY OFFICE OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12014598-23-AML. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.

Duties

You will develop communication strategies that inform and educate internal and external audiences on the organization's mission, programs, policies and objectives. You will ensure communication products and efforts deliver intended messages to desired audiences. You will develop public affairs guidance, themes and messages. You will conduct communication analysis to ensure synchronizing of communication efforts with lower echelon commands. You will design approaches to address particular communications problems in various program areas. You will analyze trends in internal and external public opinion to determine public affairs/communication program needs. You will assess impact of proposed and/or ongoing activities. You will assess potential controversial issues having national and/or international impact and determine public affairs/communication program. You will plan and coordinate messages across the enterprise. You will work with national, local and trade media in order to execute plans.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Independently creating and editing written, graphical, and/or visual information products for release; Verifying accuracy of content submitted with recognized style guides, regulations, and policies; AND Executing and evaluating communication activities and outreach events in support of command missions.
