About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Military Analyst within the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
This position is eligible for regular and recurring telework - as determined by the agency policy.
Duties
As a Military Analyst (Lessons Learned), you will perform duties to include the following:
Responsible for compiling analysis from various entities to include unified action partners.
Collects and/or reviews operational plans, reports, and supporting documents in order to understand tactical, operational, strategic and institutional requirements and issues.
Analyzes information in sufficient depth to accurately understand doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel and facilities (DOTMLPF) implications.
Plans, writes and publishes the results of analysis in the form of handbooks, newsletters, articles and other forms of media as appropriate/as directed.
Supports development of multiple courses of action for issue resolution and/or mitigation implementation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- There is Temporary Duty (TDY) travel of up to 40%. Potential TDY locations are world-wide and can include combat areas of operations.
- The incumbent must meet all Outside [the] contiguous United States (OCONUS) deployment requirements for duty in foreign countries or combat areas.
- The incumbent must obtain and maintain have a valid state driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Assisting with performing quantitative and qualitative analysis to produce lessons learned products supporting the continuing evolution of strategic, operational, or tactical requirements; to include after-action reports, studies, and other organizational performance improvement products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
