Duties

Key advisor to the Headquarters (HQ) Staff regarding administration and coordination of Command operations. Analyze mission assignments, establish program objectives, and develop current and long-range plans, projects, and operating schedules. Determine and recommend required staffing to accomplish workload; approve requests for contingency funds for the organization, and develop internal methods, procedures, and controls. Interpret general policies, directives, and regulations pertaining to the Command program issued by higher echelons and in conformance therewith, issues policies and procedures. Serve as the Staff Action Control Officer (SACO) responsible for overall administration of taskers, Command correspondence, Command directives, and management functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the employee to undergo screening for tuberculosis prior to entry on duty and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle.
  • Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.07 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity.
  • IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
  • All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
  • The employee must comply with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct.
  • Violation of either regulation may result in denial of security/access badge, be subject to disciplinary action under civilian personnel regulations or criminal prosecution under 18 USC 1791 or other applicable Federal or state laws.
  • All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
  • This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program.
  • The employee may perform Temporary duty Travel up to 10% of the time.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) conducting organizational studies to develop and implement change management plans, (2) reviewing higher level directives and developing local organizational policies and procedures, (3) processing directives/orders from higher level commands in an electronic system such as ETMS2 (Enterprise Task Management Solution System) and (4) participating in an origination's budget process at a strategic level providing guidance on requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementDecision MakingInfluencing/NegotiatingProgram Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). **All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
