About the Position: This position is located with U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Cavazos, TX. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment or temporary change to lower grade not to exceed 30 September 2025 by a current permanent Army employee.

Duties

Assists customers by providing information concerning multiple shipments of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, and professional gear. Documents, reports, and tracks agent/carrier performance clearly and accurately daily to identify poor performance and perform necessary required action for correction. Processes inbound/outbound inspection data through Transportation Operational Property System (TOPS), Defense Property System (DPS) and/or other required systems. Ensures the customer understands the contractor and their own personal responsibilities in connection with the shipment of their personal property. Inspects contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating, and unpacking Obtain contractor information to assist customers with claims with the contractor.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time
• Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license
• May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty
• Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
• A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) utilizing automated transportation systems to access, retrieve, and/or generate various transportation data and reports. AND 2) Interpreting regulations in relation to transporting of customers household goods. AND 3) Inspecting contractor's performance during packaging, crating/uncrating, loading/unloading and shipping. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
