You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Ocean Engineering Department of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).
Duties
You will develop task packages for production work using the Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) System database.
You will generate production documents based on technical documents.
You will determine applicability of available technical information and guidance for accomplishment of production tasks, suitability of existing procedures, processes, and methods, and identify additional guidance where needed.
You will identify and develop detailed job summaries, component unit identifiers, component unit phases, production work documents, and task group instructions required to accomplish overhaul and repair to Ocean Engineering systems.
You will prepare detailed production instructions for accomplishment of work and testing in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and other technical direction.
You will advise purchasing agents on clarification of contract requirements, required specifications, and other salient information necessary for successful procurement.
You will identify the required processes, facilities, trade involvement, specialized equipment, and material necessary for work and test accomplishment.
You will originate underlying technical documents upon which production documents are based.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You must successfully pass a Counter-Intelligence (CI) Polygraph on a random basis not to exceed every 5 years in the performance of the position.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-12 Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical engineering services by developing technical instructions and production work documents for ship or submarine system repair, overhaul, or maintenance projects.
GS-11 Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical engineering services including analyzing production work documents and technical instructions to identify issues and develop or modify work methods or procedures for ship or submarine system repair, overhaul, or maintenance projects.
