You will serve as a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Combat Systems Engineering & Planning Division of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will be responsible and accountable for the direction and accomplishment of engineering support services. You will be involved in the certification of all Combat Systems electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. You will resolve major technical deficiencies using Engineering and Planning Department documentation. You will be responsible for guiding, coordinating, monitoring and working with projects regarding Engineering and Planning effort. You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering advisory services by planning, directing, and coordinating project operations associated with overhaul, alteration, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, or testing of ship systems and components for Combat Systems or related support systems.
