You will serve as a MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION (MWR) DIRECTOR in the FLEET AND FAMILY READINESS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY PORTSMOUTH NSY.

Duties

You will be responsible for managing and supervising the day-to-day operations of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard's MWR programs, events, activities, and facilities. You will identify strategies to secure future resources for quality of life programs. You will analyze recommendations for improving quality of life (e.g. morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR), resale activities, lodging) business operations. You will create policies concerning the provision of morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) programs.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, coordinating, or executing resource management functions across a Recreation Program, to include physical fitness activities or food and beverage services; 2) Developing or executing operating budgets for a Recreation Program; 3) Preparing or executing business management policies and procedures of a Recreation Program.
