You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.

Duties

You will verify product quality using sampling inspection or product inspection techniques. You will analyze quality data to determine root causes of discrepancies or deficiencies. You will develop testing methods, procedures, specifications, or criteria for quality assurance (QA) programs or projects. You will test the quality or reliability of products using analytical methods and techniques. You will assess functionality changes to a quality assurance (QA) system.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Qualifications for GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Performing inspection duties associated with planning/monitoring and inspecting material at various manufacturing stages, installations, and reporting adverse trends and deviations from normal manufacturing performance and/or product conformance and quality; 2) Conducting Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and inspection duties, on assigned aircraft platform interface (API) systems/equipment and verifying product quality using sampling inspection; 3) Maintaining records, reporting deficiencies, preparing technical reports and resolving discrepancies when documentation is ambiguous or not complete; 4) Setting up, calibrating, programing, and operating sophisticated computerized inspection equipment; 5) Participating in engineering and quality investigations of equipment found to cause problems in the Fleet and providing advice and assistance to equipment users, engineering personnel, other members of the investigating team. Qualifications for GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Performing inspection duties associated with planning/monitoring and inspecting material at various manufacturing stages, installations, and reporting adverse trends and deviations from normal manufacturing performance and/or product conformance and quality; 2) Conducting Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and inspection duties, on assigned aircraft platform interface (API) systems/equipment and verifying product quality using sampling inspection or, when appropriate to the characteristics involved or pertinent quality history, performs more intensive product inspection techniques; 3) Maintaining records, reporting deficiencies, preparing technical reports and resolving discrepancies when documentation is ambiguous or not complete; 4) Setting up, calibrating, programing, and operating sophisticated computerized inspection equipment including coordinating measuring machines (CMM), tensile test machines, and emission analyzers; 5) Participating in concurrent engineering efforts developing plans, requirements and procedures for assuring quality and reliability of products; 6) Participating in engineering and quality investigations of equipment found to cause problems in the Fleet and providing advice and assistance to equipment users, engineering personnel, other members of the investigating team. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For GS-09:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related

For GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
