About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American nations and peoples are substantial.
Duties
Develop Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Battle Rhythm, Scheduling, Standardization of Briefing Products, Summary Messages, Fragmentary Orders, Staff Papers and other required documents.
Plan branch activities ensuring activities comply with doctrine, legal and regulatory requirements and meet the customers' operational needs.
Work with multiple U.S. Government agencies, U.S. military organizations and international agencies to implement HQ strategy to promote regional stability and security in the AOR.
Apply strategic guidelines, policies, regulations, and establish policies and procedures for the accomplishment of Joint Fires Element (JFE) activities.
Requirements

- This position requires travel away from the duty station up to 20% of the time.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
- Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 2 years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience planning complex targeting operations; contributing to the defeat of drug trafficking and other illicit networks which threaten the United States; assessing the effectiveness of fires and operations; interpreting detailed information to coordinate follow-on staff actions; providing expertise to facilitate military decision-making processes; coordinating synchronization and employment of military and/or other elements of national power both domestic and international; and leading the coordination of operational execution of assigned Joint, Command, and U.S. Government Interagency actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
