You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (EMPLOYEE BENEFITS) in the CIVILIAN BENEFITS CENTER (CBC) of OFFICE OF CIVILIAN HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS.
Duties
You will serve as a troubleshooter for the most difficult retirement and benefits issues encountered by the team.
You will research, investigate, and make recommendations to the supervisor and ensure recommendations are in accordance with the latest guidance, federal regulations, and OPM and DON procedures.
You will serve as a point of contact (POC) with peers in other Branches to resolve operational concerns such as (1) errors in optional and disability retirement
processing, and (2) implementation of new regulations/policies.
You will draft DON Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the optional and disability retirement programs.
You will provide on-the-job training, explain Federal regulations and OPM/DON policies and procedures, instruct on automated systems, and review the work of trainee(s) for compliance with instructions.
You will conduct briefings regarding retirement and benefits for serviced employees.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: troubleshooting difficult retirement and benefit issues, drafting procedures and explaining policy for the optional and disability retirement programs, and conducting briefs about retirement and benefits for serviced employees.
