You will serve as a SUPERVISORY OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT of STRATEGIC WEAPONS FACILITY PACIFIC.
This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-3 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
Duties
You will supervise, manage and/or operate a safety and occupational health program that authorizes the formulation, determination, or the influence of policies for the component.
You will develop programs and administer, probe, analyze program effectiveness, and the recommend new, specialized safety and occupational health procedures to eliminate or control high risk, unconventional, hazards in health research activities.
You will provide solutions to hazardous operational and research problems to program managers and agency safety and occupational health specialists.
You will conduct safety and occupational health inspections and surveys.
You will establish guidelines and criteria to control or eliminate serious hazards in the workplace.
You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
You will coordinate with subject matter specialist such as facility and production engineers, medical, fire prevention, security, procurement, etc.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluating a safety and occupational health program for an entire agency.
