Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Planning, developing, and/or implementing public health programs in collaboration with local, state, other Federal and/or international governments and various public, non-profit, and/or private organizations. Analyzing existing and/or proposed systems, strategies, services, and/or other health related matters. Conducting assessments, compliance reviews, and/or negotiating and approving corrective actions.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Must have experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communication, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. -AND- Specialized Experience: For GS-13: In addition to the basic qualification requirement above, you must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following: Establish systematic methods for public health programs (including substance use disorders, persons experiencing homelessness, and/or working with the criminal justice system) in execution and support of objectives, evaluation criteria, and/or legal and regulatory compliance requirements. Monitor program compliance requirements and/or recommend approval or disapproval of existing and/or proposed program activities or expansions in substance use disorders, working with people at risk for or experiencing homelessness, and/or the criminal justice system. Provide guidance in developing and/or implementing program plans and data sets consistent with funding requirements and/or national initiatives. Draft responses to inquiries to address concerns by contractors and other stakeholders related to serving individuals experiencing substance use disorders (SUD) and/or individuals at risk for homelessness or are homeless. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
